Rollover suspension"Cayman Islands Premier McKeeva Bush said Wednesday [September 14, 2011] that he would ask Cabinet to temporarily suspend the current term limit on foreign workers' residency." - The Caymanian Compass The Immigration Law (2007 Revision) requires that foreign workers obtain a work permit in order to take up employment in the Cayman Islands. The Law sets the current term limit of a worker who is designated a key employee at nine years and the term limit of a foreign worker who is not a key employee is seven years. It is proposed that the term limits are to be suspended for up to two years in an effort to boost certain industries that have suffered from the effect of the 'rollover policy' in the last few years. |
