Leyla Jackson


Leyla Jackson has over ten years experience in law and legal research. Before joining Broadhurst, Leyla worked as a Senior Lecturer at the Truman Bodden Law School within the Portfolio of Legal Affairs. In this role, she provided advice to the Cayman Islands Government, most notably on employment related matters. She also spearheaded joint ventures with the Department of Labour and Pensions and Ministry of Education, Employment and Gender Affairs.

Leyla holds a Bachelor of Laws degree (First Class), a Postgraduate Diploma in Law and Legal Practice (Distinction) and a Master of Laws (Commendation). She is a recognised Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (UK) and a STEP Affiliate, in 2018 attaining the top international score for her Equity and Trusts in Practice examination grade.

Leyla has published in a number of international legal journals on family law, gender and religion. She is a member of the International Society of Family Law and Association of Law Teachers, a contributor for the Cayman Islands Law Journal and has conducted legal training for the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service.

As a Leadership Cayman alumni, Leyla is extremely active in Cayman sports administration. She is the President of the Cayman Islands Boxing Association, a certified boxing technical official and has acted as a team manager at two Commonwealth Games. She is also an Executive Board Representative for the Cayman Islands Olympic Committee.
